As off, 1 July, 2007,
I, Jacob Gelt Dekker, terminated my involvement in
all capacities with
the Foundation of the Netherlands, Stichting
Childright.
To the best of my knowledge, my functions as
Chairman of the Honorary
Board from August 2004 till 1 March 2007 and
Governor from 1 March - 1 July 2007 will not be
continued by other persons.
Jacob Gelt Dekker

Further
Explanation:
A series of
shortcomings by the Board of Childright led to my
decision.
Specifically:
- Failure by the
Board to produce audited accounts of the
Stichting Childright over the years 2004, 2005,
and 2006.
- Failure by the
Board to produce audited accounts of any of the
projects in the world, supported by Childright
in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
- Failure by the
Board to produce written and public standards
and criteria for the allocation of monies to
projects in the world. Nobel Laureate, Jan
Tinbergen was the Founder of Childright. His
objectives were outlined in the bylaws of the
Foundation as “… advocacy of the Rights of
Children as stated in the UN Declaration of the
Rights of Children of 1993.” Presently Stichting
Childright does not entertain any children’s
advocacy projects in the world.
- Failure by the
Board of transparency of administration and
handling of projects.
- Failure by the
Board to meet criteria as stated on the website
of Childright, that at least 95% of its monies
are spent on children’s projects in the world.
In fact, during 2006
and 2007, very large amounts of money (an
estimated 40-60% of all receipts) were spent on
acquisition and administration.
- Failure and
refusal by the Board to attract qualified staff
after the resignation of director Raymond
Chevalir, September 2006. Present director has
no international experience, no knowledge or
experience in children’s rights, child care, or
any form international children’s aid.
- Failure by the
Board to file its tax returns and pay taxes due,
as is required by the law of the Netherlands.
