Opening Hotel Kura Hulanda in Otrobanda, Curacao 
This project changed an important part of the evermore dilapidated district Otrobanda (65 large and small houses) into a  green oasis with a 5-star hotel, containing three restaurants. The hotel rooms, restaurants and general areas exist of restored, original small houses. The complex stretches out over: Langestraat, IJzerstraat, Klipstraat and De Rouvilleweg and contains more than 90 small and large buildings, of which most are registered as a monument.

Opening Jacob Gelt Dekker Institute for Advanced Cultural Studies
The cooperation within this institute exists of 16 universities in North- and South- America, Europe and Africa. In 2003 a scientific book collection was obtained for this institute, of which 90 % refers to Tropical America and more specifically the Caribbean.
